This coastal barn home is nestled amidst windswept cypress and oak trees on a private peninsula where forest and meadows are left untouched where native plants naturally decorate the landscape.
The designed garden is arranged around the house, naturalistic perennial planting, and ornamental grasses which remain attractive well into winter, providing important shelter for wildlife, as well as aesthetic continuity. The extensive planting plan includes plants with cultural value, such as Leucanthemum x superbum ’Bröllopsgåvan’ and Dianthus ’Marieberg’ as well as plants great for pollinators, Hylotelephium and Monarda.
A palette of natural stone and reclaimed materials in this modern countryside garden embrace the architecture aesthetic and rural site, with granite sets in a traditional ace shaped pattern resting on the driveway, whilst local lime stone delicately frame the house.
The goal with this garden was to create a timeless garden, with quality and deep connection to the land.
